London Olympic Games

2012 London Olypics

With 5 months to go before the entire world is opened to the London Olympics, I haven't seen many advertisements about the Olympic Games. However, that doesn't mean that they aren't out there or that there aren't millions upon millions of dollars being spent on advertisements. Which company do you think will spend the most on the ads?

What do ads like the one below mean to a child such as the little girl who is in the ad? I wonder if she understands what the ad means, and does she know what will take place in only a few months?
I know that there is money to be made, but will the price of the ads eventually pay off? Companies are hoping, that with the large audience/TV viewers, they will be able to make a profit off of their advertisements, but what if they don't?

What about the recession? Will that affect the Olympic games when it is said that gas prices could raise over $4.00 in April?

It is said that NBC has already sold more National Adverisements than it had for the Beijing Olypmics. How can the company afford such expensive advertisement when the whole world seems to be in a recession? How can NBC afford to create the promotional videos like the one below and also provide "live digital streams of events" for those who watch the Olympic games around the world? NBC is taking so many measures to allow the games to be seen worldwide, that it seems crazy to think about how they are paying for the advertisements, the promotional videos and the service, but they aren't the only ones who are willing to do it.

According to the Sports Business Journal: General Motors, BMW, Panasonic, Citi, TD Ameritrade, AT&T, McDonalds, Procter & Gamble, Coca-Cola and Visa are all confirmed to be advertisers for the 2012 London Olympic Games.

There is still a lot of demand though. There is a demand for service. The Olympics cause a lot of excitement and national pride...so who wouldn't want to watch the Games? Who wouldn't want to take a moment out of their busy lives to watch a game that defines history in the making?

I can't think of one person who wouldn't want to. That is why I believe that companies/organizations/businesses are taking so much time, money and effort into their jobs. They know that there are a lot of opportunities that are opened during the games, so why not take the chance?

Side Note: Wishing everyone who participates in the 2012 London Olympic Games the best of luck!
