ISM through LinkedIn

International Sport Management

Linked in States that International Sport Management (ISM) is a company with outstanding professionals who further enhance the area of Sport Marketing. However, ISM doesn't just focus on Sport Marketing.

Those in ISM don't have to be Sport Management majors either. For Example: Kate Bluhm is an Account Executive for ISM after graduating from Oregon State.

MLS with International Teams

Game Time

"Games with International Teams are important"
Major League Soccer needs to have important wins over International Teams to gain respect. MLS has never been seen as a major organization, especially in the United States...not to mention around the world. So of course they would believe that they need to win against International teams to gain some popularity and visual in the United States and around the world.

I agree.

The problem is that during the Champions League, the MLS is still playing league games?

Why would the League contradict what they believe in by splitting the fans.

Olympic Debut

According to CNN, the IOC and Saudi Arabia met together to discuss the female participation in the upcoming Summer Olympic Games.

Saudi Arabia is only one out of three countries who has never sent women to participate in the Olympic Games.
The International Olympic Committee says it is confident Saudi Arabia is "working to include women athletes and officials at the Olympic Games in London in accordance with the International Federations' rules."

The IOC is hoping to change this fact, by allowing the Saudi women to participate in the games this summer. They have confidence that Saudi Arabia will allow female officials and players to participate in the games. However, the IOC still has a lot to do. Especially when observing the list of women who have been eligible to participate.

L.A. Galaxy and Beckham's return

Even with the return of England's David Beckham to the L.A. Galaxy, it didn't help the team win their season opener against Real Salt Lake.

I was surprised that the Galaxy fell on their season opener, it was unexpected from the dominant team.

Recently when I see MLS, it usually about L.A. Galaxy and about David Beckham. There are a lot of good and bad that comes with this. It is awesome that MLS is receiving more and more attention from United States Citizens, but why are they focusing more attention to international soccer stars?

What does America have to do to make soccer popular as a whole rather than letting International Stars take the spotlight?

Major League Soccer

Many American citizens may not realize that a new season is about to start. I hear about the MLB, NBA, March Madness and so much more, but one thing that I never really hear people talk about is Major League Soccer.

There have been so many professionals that have been imported from other countries who now promote the sport and play the game that they love. I even hear that because professional players, like Beckham, have come to the United States, there has been an increase in popularity of Soccer.

However, I still don't hear much about Major League Soccer. I am a fan of Soccer, but I understand that it is hard to watch an MLS game on TV. I feel as they don't get much air time, and even the Premier League seems to get more air time then MLS.

I want to see an MLS game that opens the season.

Ryan Giggs

A record setter. 900 appearances for one team alone seems nearly impossible, but it is a person who is able to set a record. It is someone like no other. Someone like Ryan Giggs will never come along again.

Ryan Giggs is Professional Soccer Player for Manchester United: A well known, prestigious team in the premier league. Playing since I was born, Ryan Giggs made his debut appearance with United in 1991 until now. He is only 38 years old too. His manager also believes that there will never be someone like Ryan Giggs. There will never be anyone who can surpass the amount of times he had stepped on the field for the Red Devils. For Manchester United. Or at least no one will be as successful as he was and obtain the amount of awards and notice that he has.

It is quite amazing to me to hear about a man who has played 900 games for Manchester United alone. That doesn't even count the amount of times that he has stepped on a field for his national team or any other games he had played. 900 games is amazing and he is lucky to still be playing and to be so healthy.

London Olympic Games

2012 London Olypics

With 5 months to go before the entire world is opened to the London Olympics, I haven't seen many advertisements about the Olympic Games. However, that doesn't mean that they aren't out there or that there aren't millions upon millions of dollars being spent on advertisements. Which company do you think will spend the most on the ads?

What do ads like the one below mean to a child such as the little girl who is in the ad? I wonder if she understands what the ad means, and does she know what will take place in only a few months?
I know that there is money to be made, but will the price of the ads eventually pay off? Companies are hoping, that with the large audience/TV viewers, they will be able to make a profit off of their advertisements, but what if they don't?

What about the recession? Will that affect the Olympic games when it is said that gas prices could raise over $4.00 in April?
-Chris Kahn
It is said that NBC has already sold more National Adverisements than it had for the Beijing Olypmics. How can the company afford such expensive advertisement when the whole world seems to be in a recession? How can NBC afford to create the promotional videos like the one below and also provide "live digital streams of events" for those who watch the Olympic games around the world? NBC is taking so many measures to allow the games to be seen worldwide, that it seems crazy to think about how they are paying for the advertisements, the promotional videos and the service, but they aren't the only ones who are willing to do it.

According to the Sports Business Journal: General Motors, BMW, Panasonic, Citi, TD Ameritrade, AT&T, McDonalds, Procter & Gamble, Coca-Cola and Visa are all confirmed to be advertisers for the 2012 London Olympic Games.
-Tripp Mickle (SBJ)

There is still a lot of demand though. There is a demand for service. The Olympics cause a lot of excitement and national pride...so who wouldn't want to watch the Games? Who wouldn't want to take a moment out of their busy lives to watch a game that defines history in the making?

I can't think of one person who wouldn't want to. That is why I believe that companies/organizations/businesses are taking so much time, money and effort into their jobs. They know that there are a lot of opportunities that are opened during the games, so why not take the chance?

Side Note: Wishing everyone who participates in the 2012 London Olympic Games the best of luck!
