Major League Soccer needs to have important wins over International Teams to gain respect. MLS has never been seen as a major organization, especially in the United States...not to mention around the world. So of course they would believe that they need to win against International teams to gain some popularity and visual in the United States and around the world.

I agree.

The problem is that during the Champions League, the MLS is still playing league games?

Why would the League contradict what they believe in by splitting the fans.
